When Boko Haram attacked the secondary school girls years ago, a lot of people were worried and scared at the same time. However, of all the girls who were kidnapped, one of them stood out and that person is Leah Sharibu.
Leah was one of the 110 girls Boko Haram kidnapped from the girls' school in Dapchi, a community in northeast Nigeria, in February 2018. The military and government promised to get these children and they did.
Sadly, while other parents were rejoicing over their children, Sharibu’s mother was surprised to see that her daughter, Leah wasn’t among the rescued girls. She then went to meet two of the girls who are also Leah’s friends to ask about her daughter and why she wasn’t with the other girls.
To the shock of many, one of the girls told Rebecca Sharibu, Leah’s mother that Leah was asked to convert to Islam by Boko Haram, but she rejected it and so they didn’t release her.
